Subway Watersports Course Directors on Roatan

Edward Butler PADI CD 639720

Edward Butler (Ed), originally from the United Kingdom; became Subway's resident PADI Course Director in the summer of 2012.

His story is a familiar one, shared by countless others among the many thousands of enthusiastic dive professionals, who now enjoy this amazing lifestyle! Earning his scuba certification was one of Ed's 'must do' experiences planned while backpacking around the world. Gearing up alongside the other students, ready to make their first open water dive; Ed was excited and also a little nervous as they descended for the first time! After the dive, relaxing in the sun, sharing experiences with his new dive buddies during the debrief; they were all buzzing, feeling elated by their accomplishment. Ed decided right then that he must become a part of this life changing sport and dreamed of becoming a scuba instructor!

Two years later, Ed gained his PADI Instructor rating in 2006 right here in the Bay Islands of Honduras and began living his dream, working as a PADI Instructor all over the Caribbean! He says "one of the best things about my 'job' is watching the expressions of my students as they surface from their first dive!"

After gaining valuable experience teaching all levels of recreational diver training, Ed gained a position working alongside two very experienced Course Directors as an IDC Staff Instructor. Developing dive professionals became Ed's passion and has since helped hundreds of others just like him, turn their dream of becoming a PADI Pro into reality!

Ed joined Subway Watersports in 2011 to manage our popular Divemaster Internship Program. After implementing improvements and revitalizing the internship program, he now manages all our Professional Dive Training, assisted by our experienced dive team, who are all passionate about the ocean environment!
