The Instructor Development
Course IDC in Roatan at Subway Watersports runs over 12 days and
offers small classes of a maximum 6 students each month directly
followed by a local 2 day Instructor Examination.
Our IDC includes (at no
additional cost); "Welcome to Roatan" airport/ferry transfers, 2008
Roatan Marine Park Pass, diving before & after the IDC, free use of
our dive equipment during training, staff lunches during the course,
accommodation (double occupancy with another PADI Pro candidate),
daily transport from our accommodation to/from the resort and
transport to the IE with full logistical support from your IDC
Staff.
Subway Watersports was
built to offer the best value in dive education to our students and
is the only IDC facility in the Bay Islands of Honduras to have
everything in one location; Dive Center, air-conditioned digital
multimedia classroom, full service dive resort, a freshwater pool
that conforms to PADI standards (a BIG bonus when practicing skills
and learning teaching techniques) dive equipment retail & repair
shop, Enriched Air (NITROX) blending station, and a dive boat
dedicated to the use of the IDC (for ease of scheduling).
After completing the IDC we
offer Instructor Specialty Training and placement/internships at a
variety of dive centers on Roatan. This helps new Dive Instructors
gain experience, a work reference and employment. In 2007/8 over 80%
of the Instructors hired on Roatan came from our programs.
Our IDC (Instructor
Development Course) program also includes the Emergency First
Response Instructor rating. As announced in January this year EFR
Instructor is to be required for all new PADI Instructors by March
2009.
Our goal is to prepare you
to work in a variety of situations and locales. We have an expanded
IDC curriculum to include the National Geographic Program, Workshops
in; Discover Scuba Diving, Adventures in Diving, Rescue Diver, eRDP
use, knot tying, lift bag use and PADIs newest digital revolution
e-Learning. We want you to be ready for the challenges of being an
OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor) - wherever your dreams will take
you.
We are the only dive center
in the Bay Islands to have small classes of 6 maximum and plan for
lots of time for additional practice. Our level of preparation will
increase your ease of learning – we expect you will even have fun!
